Musical Spoof of Classic TV Show Open Melodrama 2011 Season
Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip taken by a hapless crew as they wash up on a familiar desert isle and encounter crazy plot twists, evil villains and island gods.
The All American Melodrama Theater kicks off its 2011 Season with the hilarious television parody, “Milligan’s Island.” The melodrama satire for the whole family sets sail at the popular Long Beach attraction, January 21. Written by Michael Prince, directed by Ken Parks, music by Rick Illes, “Milligan’s Island” is filled with nutty characters, clever musical numbers and lots of classic TV nostalgia. First Mate Milligan and the Skipper hope a millionaire, Thurston Powell, and his wife will help finance their dream, of owning a shipping fleet. They invite along for the journey a professor, a movie star, and a corn feed Kansas cutie with a diabolical scheme to rule the world. It’s the classic story of castaways that can make a radio out of coconuts but can’t patch a three foot hole in the side of a boat.
